Each class lasts for one hour. The lesson begins with a 15-20 minute warm-up, which incorporates punching and stretching. The remaining 40-45 minutes involves the use of focus mitts and hand held kick shields – (similar to using punch bags). 'Air' kicking and punching (drill work) also takes place throughout the class as well as partner work. Provided protective equipment is purchased, sparring (semi-contact fighting) is possible for those who are interested. Selected self defense techniques are also covered if desired.

New techniques are introduced week by week…starting from a beginner’s level…advancing towards the goal of throwing jump spinning kicks! (Might take a while!) The course meets the demands of the experienced and fit, as well as those of us whom could be fitter! The class will push you consistently through new limits, although you will be encouraged to choose your own pace throughout the session. (An example: if the task is to throw 2 side kicks…you can kick just once if that is sufficient for you…after a few classes you’ll be able to do 2!).

The first course should be treated as a starting block. Fitness will undoubtedly improve within the first few weeks as the body is strengthened and conditioned.

Every muscle in your body will become more defined. Be prepared to ache a little after the first class, as you will discover muscles that have never been used before!

The Kick-boxing class does not follow a traditional ranking system as the primary focus is sparring and improving overall fitness. The classes are there for your benefit and can be tailored to your needs as you define your own goals.

All in all the classes really work you hard. Music may be incorporated to keep your adrenaline going and maintain a high-energy routine. A great work out…leaving you feeling fantastic afterwards.
